ARA
Loudspeakers
A for Ara is an attempt to honour the art of high fidelity audio for the home. While pleasing on the eye, all A for Ara speakers are made for the ear first: Their solid hardwood horns are an instantiation of form following function—acting as coupling devices, doing for sound what a lens does for light (metaphorically speaking).
Ara means altar; the speakers aim to encourage devotion: active listening wherein we give our whole-selves to sound. A for Ara is a collaboration between Robert Kalin and William Cowan based in Catskill, New York, US.
FS1
A hardwood horn acts as a seven-octave point-source, covering 200Hz – 20kHz. Below this is a sealed mono-pole bass section that features a long-throw 10” woofer with a 12” passive radiator for a bump in the bottom octave. Fully passive design.
