Elise Gettliffe is a Berlin-based ceramicist. Her pieces are shaped organically using careful gestures and motions, following the controlled techniques she learned whilst studying pottery in Tokyo, Japan. Gettliffe creates functional ceramics, merging a strong tradition of Japanese pottery with elements from her creative background. Having previously worked as a fashion designer, Gettliffe brings a sculptural approach to her ceramics, seeking to enhance the texture and appearance of natural clay to bring it into balance with the form and function of each piece.
