Alexis Gautier 'San Fermo della Battaglia (Zebra's Legend)' (2017) handwoven and handbuilt tapestry in natural wool made with local craftspeople using traditional techniques in Lamjung Bhujung, Nepal. Exhibited as part of Blue Projects' inaugural exhibition Stairs, Zebra, Bees and Light Purple Jackets by Alexis Gautier in 2018.

Woven on a back loom and felted over a period of two days. All colouring is natural wool. The graphic pattern is woven into the textile, featuring grey and black stripes and motifs sourced in San Fermo della Battaglia, Italy, where the artist was introduced to a tailor who created striped suits cut on the bias. 

Features cream body, integrated grey and black marl motifs, graphic border, selvedge edge, and incorporated fringe finish.
