Prounis
Prounis Jewelry was founded in 2017 by designer Jean Prounis, in homage to her ancestry. Through a distinctive aesthetic, the brand blends Jean’s love of antiquities with a family legacy of crafting treasured memories and heirloom objects.
Her great-grandfather, Otto Prounis, was the co-proprietor of the Versailles, a celebrated 1940s nightclub in New York City. The club was resplendent with the era's finery of custom silver, sage green silk, and embroidered linens. A legacy of fine objects and art deco artifacts, along with her grandfather's collection of tomes on Ancient Greco-Roman art antiquities made its way into the Prounis family home, where Jean, as a child, grew up amongst them and continues to be inspired by them to this day.
Each piece of Prounis Jewelry is hand-wrought in New York's Jewelry District using recycled 22-karat gold set with precious and semi-precious gems, made using ancient goldsmithing techniques and responsibly sourced materials.
